Dodge Intrepid II
investmenttool.com technology journal
I took a third and hopefully final business trip, this time to Atlanta last week. I managed to get a rental car from hell, courtesy of Dollar Rent a car. It was once again, a Dodge Intrepid.
The problem here was that Atlanta is a pretty hilly place. This car had a weak, four cylinder engine that seemed to wheeze even on the flattest of ground. This car was incapable of delivering passing speed, climbing hills without one or two down shifts, or inspiring any confidence at all.
Even better than that, drought stricken Atlanta hadn't seen rain in some time, was filled with large, fearsome bugs and the car was delivered with no wiper fluid. That's right, the car had no wiper fluid at all. It was a little low on coolant and the oil dipstick showed it needed almost a quart of oil. To top this off the car was delivered with a large, dead hornet on the back shelf, behind the back seats.
This piece of technology was underpowered and poorly designed. Add to that the condition it was delivered in and this is one car and rental company to avoid. Dollar should have made the entire rental free, not just taken $20 off the bill.
