The 1990's represented a large shift in the role of technology in our economy. During the current recession, which some blame on technology excesses of the late 1990's a debate has broken out concerning whether the investment in technology during that decade paid off or not. Those that think it has, led by Alan Greenspan have noted that 4% growth was supported for much of the prior decade with little or no inflation. The United States Senate has left Washington with a lot of important things undone. Most critical of which is the cavernous vacancies within the Bush administration. Critical posts at the departments of Justice, State and Defense, all needed for the war on terror have been left unfilled. It is not for a lack of qualified candidates. It is because certain members of Congress have not been able to accept Bush as President and want to hobble his administration.
